고기, 생선, 채소 따위에 물을 많이 붓고 간을 맞추어 끓인 음식으로 국물과 건더기를 함께 먹는다.

見た目が熊(韓国語で「コム」)のようであることから名付けられた「コムチ(ウツボ)」を入れて煮込んだスープ。南海地域と西海地域ではすまし汁が主流だが、三陟地域では熟成キムチを入れて辛味のスープにするのが特徴である。
此鱼学名为蠕纹裸胸鳝,头部与熊的长相有些类似,海鳝因此而得名。在南海和西海沿岸的城市多将它煮成清汤,而三陟地区则在熬汤时放一些陈年的酸泡菜,味道鲜辣爽口。
海鱔的樣子酷像熊,所以在韓語裡海鱔湯被叫做「熊湯」。南海與西海的海鱔湯都是清湯,但三陟地區的海鱔湯一般加入酸泡菜,吃起來酸辣爽口。
